Just News: WCASA

The Wedding Association of South Africa or WCASA was established to ensure that; firstly the Wedding Coordinators belonging to the association deliver a high standard of service and help grow the wedding industry in South Africa, and secondly make sure that service providers in the wedding industry are also of a high standard.  This association is aimed to give Bridal Couples the piece of mind that their coordinator, belonging to WCASA, will be of the quality that they promise.

After a recent association meeting we discussed a few great things happening in our industry at the moment.

New Entrant to the industry

The “Invitation Gallery” was recently launched to give Bridal Couples access to various online invitation designs, done by some South Africa’s up and coming professionals.  These online invitations are ideal for the Bride that knows what she wants and would prefer looking at an online store, rather than sitting in long stationery meetings discussion various invitation options.
‘Seasoned – Chefs at home’, were introduced to WCASA by serving a wonderful meal for all the attendees.  They offer catering ‘at home’ for private functions and small weddings.

The new season (trends, economic conditions, bookings – what are we expecting)

It seems that the economic status of all countries have been touched by the recession, however this is not necessarily a bad thing. For us, as coordinators, it has become a passion and a challenge to become more creative with the way in which we work, conceptualize ideas and execute weddings and events. We have been faced with new and exciting opportunities to truly show others exactly what can be achieved with the addition of passion within this ever-growing industry.

Just an updated to say that some of our favourite venues are busy revamping, to make sure that they are ready for the busy season ahead. MolenVliet Wine and Guest Estate is busy revamping their new ceremony area as well as planting lawn to keep dust from the vineyards in its place. Zorgvliet Wine Estate is busy building 35 new rooms next to their wedding venue, to accommodate the weddings guests close to their event, at reasonable rates. And some new venue additions…The Oaks Estate in Greyton and Olive Rock in Wolseley.

Service Professionals and industry friends

It is very exciting to be able to welcome Anne Mann back to the industry – it has been an incredible step forward. We need to support her as she was the first coordinator and almost like a ‘Mother’ to the industry and us all. Her work is absolutely amazing and this needs to embraced and recognized within the industry. Her new website is up and running and not to mention gorgeous -www.annemann.co.za

Thank you!

And on a final note – we cannot thank the service professionals, who make these meetings possible, enough!

Special thanks are extended to the following people for contributing to the success of the evening.
